| Drawing and Painting with Rebecca Lawrence, ages 6-10 |
This class exposes students to a variety of artists, media and techniques from modern and contemporary art, observational line drawing, landscapes and portraiture. The class will use charcoals, pastels, watercolors and acrylic paints to explore their creativity, while developing their Drawing and painting skills. Our students will be exposed to the works of Wayne Thiebold, Marsden Hartley, Elizabeth Peyton, Gerhard Richter and Henri Matisse (and more) and complete projects incorporating their personal experiences (favorite colors, friends/family, self image, home/school,) inspired by the artists’ work. Students learn how to combine colors, create tints/shades, use various line weights when drawing, and learn the differences in painting mediums (thin watercolor washes verses thick acrylic). $99, 6 weeks |

Kids Pottery Wheel-throwing for young teens ages 12 and up, with Megan Paden |
Kids ages 12 and up. Beginners to intermediate. Students will learn the techniques of throwing pottery on the potter's wheel and glazing, as well as gain knowledge of clay processes, through instruction and hands on experience. Get out your digital cameras…there’s going go be a lot of clickin’ going on! This daylong workshop is designed to bring families together as fellow documentary photographers. We will begin our day with a short walking field trip. (If the weather does not cooperate, we can assemble still life exhibits indoors) During our lunch break our images will be processed and our afternoon will be spent creating, editing and for those who wish, presenting our photo documentary projects. This workshop originally designed by Melinda for the Allentown Art Museum was wildly popular with fathers as well as mothers. Join us for 1 workshop or the entire series. $75 each |
